Concrete & Epoxy Primers: Long-Lasting From the First Coat
Get the primer wrong and even the best epoxy system can blister or delaminate early.
Liquimix builds every high-performance floor from below the surface. As a trusted concrete primer supplier to the civil, industrial and commercial trades, we formulate our epoxy primer range to penetrate, strengthen and seal concrete before a single litre of topcoat goes down.

Liquimix Epoxy & Concrete Primer Range
Our concrete epoxy primers are built on low-viscosity, 100% solid epoxy chemistry. They are engineered to penetrate the pore structure of concrete rather than just sit on top of it. Our selection includes primers for epoxy systems in standard, fast-cure, and winter grades.
Civilox-LV100
Civilox-LV100 is a low-viscosity epoxy concrete primer with a simple 1:1 mix ratio. Penetrates, strengthens, and seals concrete, and is a preferred choice over polyurea linings, helping prevent pinhole formation.
Civilox-FC125
Civilox-FC125 is a fast-curing, surface-tolerant concrete epoxy primer built for adhesion, water resistance and chemical durability. A common first choice where turnaround matters as much as bond strength.
Civilox-CC55
Civilox-CC55 is a winter-grade primer for epoxy application in colder conditions, formulated to harden in 6 to 10 hours at 15°C and below, without compromising penetration.
Why Contractors Choose Liquimix Epoxy Primers
Concrete is porous, alkaline and rarely as dry as it looks. Our epoxy paint and primer systems are designed to address those aspects.
- Adhesion: keys into the pore structure for the coats that follow
- Moisture management: selected grades handle surface moisture and reduce outgassing
- Surface consolidation: strengthens dusty, friable or previously ground concrete
- System compatibility: engineered to work as part of a full epoxy, polyurea or polyurethane system
Australia's Trusted Concrete Primer Supplier
We manufacture our concrete epoxy primer range in Australia for Australian conditions and in alignment with the moisture and pH testing benchmarks set out in AS 1884:2021.
Our team can help specify the right primer for a new pour, an ageing industrial floor, or a facility where downtime isn’t an option. We also supply in bulk, so contractors sourcing primer alongside a full flooring system can order through the same account and technical office.

We supply epoxy primers to applicators, specifiers and facility teams across Australia, backed by more than 40 years of formulating for local conditions. Whether you’re priming a new slab or specifying an epoxy primerfor a moisture-affected building, our technical office can help you match the product to the substrate before you order.
Priming is the cheapest line item on a flooring project and the most expensive one to get wrong. Talk to our technical office before you order.
Tell us your slab condition, moisture reading and intended topcoat, and we’ll help you choose the right epoxy concrete primer for the job.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an epoxy primer before applying the top floor coating?
On almost every commercial or industrial job, yes. A primer improves adhesion, seals the concrete’s pore structure, and reduces outgassing that causes pinholes and bubbles. Skipping it on porous or previously ground concrete is one of the most common causes of coating failure.
What’s the difference between an epoxy paint and primer?
A primer is a thin, penetrating layer that bonds a coating system to the concrete beneath it. Epoxy paint is the thicker, coloured finish applied on top. A durable floor generally needs both to work together as one system.
How long does a concrete primer take to cure?
It depends on the product, film thickness, and site temperature, so always check the datasheet. Our fast-cure grades are typically recoatable within hours, and our winter grade hardens in 6 to 10 hours at 15°C and below.
Can I use epoxy primers on old or damaged concrete?
Often, yes, once the surface is properly prepared. Our primers for epoxy are formulated to penetrate, strengthen and seal dusty or friable concrete, but cracks or significant contamination should be addressed first. Our technical office can help assess what a slab needs before priming.
Do I need a different epoxy concrete primer for cold-weather applications?
Standard primers slow down in cold conditions, which is why we formulate Civilox-CC55 specifically for temperatures of 15°C and below. It’s designed to harden and dry in 6 to 10 hours.
How much concrete epoxy primer will I need for my project?
Coverage depends heavily on how porous and profiled the concrete is, since a rougher or more absorbent slab draws in more resin. Consult with our team for an estimate based on your substrate.
