Intended Uses of Swell

  • Mix chambers and spray nozzles are easier to drill and clean after they have been soaked in Swell
  • Helps with the frequent interchange of gun parts to maintain optimal spray pattern
  • Restores contaminated metal surfaces and gun parts to ‘as new’ condition
  • Removes unintended polyurea overspray from hard surfaces. (Take care not to damage existing painted surfaces)
  • Paint stripper. A safer alternative to methylene chloride

WARNING: DO NOT USE SWELL AS A GENERAL-PURPOSE CLEANER…! IT CAN DAMAGE PAINT AND THE OUTER POLYURETHANE WRAP ON HOSES. DO NOT USE IT IN PUMPS.

Instructions For Use

  1. Clean the contaminated gun parts first with a solvent-based cleaner such as methylated spirits or Reactor Flush.
  2. Then soak in SWELL for 10 to 30 minutes
  3. After soaking, remove the softened polyurea or epoxy with compressed air, a brush or a rag.

Swell can be reused but works best when fresh. It does not need to be heated in order to be effective, although heating may speed the process. Use Swell as supplied. Do not dilute it with solvent or water.

Note: Plastic containers, with removable baskets and clip-on lids (such as beetroot containers), are useful for both the initial cleaning (with methylated spirits) and soaking (with Swell). To avoid cross-contamination, use separate containers for A and B component gun parts. Clearly label each container.

Swell is water-soluble, non-volatile and biodegradable. In the case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and water. Wear gloves and standard PPE when using Swell.
